As a wedding photographer, some weddings stand out as truly special, and Heidi & Chris’ celebration on Squam Lake was one of those unforgettable days. Set against the beautiful backdrop of New Hampshire’s Lakes Region, their intimate September wedding was filled with love, creativity, and personal touches that made it uniquely their own.
Heidi and Chris call Brooklyn home, so before their wedding day, I had the pleasure of capturing their engagement photos in Central Park—a place they often explore together on the weekends. Inspired by their favorite film, When Harry Met Sally, their engagement shoot was filled with the charm and nostalgia of a classic New York love story.
Their wedding day began with a truly one-of-a-kind setting. Church Island, nestled in the middle of Squam Lake, was the perfect location for their heartfelt ceremony. To get their 50 closest family and friends there, they arranged for pontoon boats to ferry guests across the lake. It was an experience in itself—an adventure before the vows were even exchanged. Heidi, in a dress she designed and sewed herself (yes, really!), walked down the aisle with the stunning scenery as her backdrop. The moment they said “I do” was filled with so much emotion and joy.
After the ceremony, Heidi & Chris departed in style and rode off into the sunset in a vintage wooden boat driven by their family friends. Their reception at the Squam Lake Inn was the definition of warmth and intimacy. With carefully curated details, they infused their personalities into every aspect of the evening. The reception was filled with carefully curated details that reflected Heidi & Chris’ personalities. They placed Ranger Station candles throughout the venue, adding a cozy and familiar fragrance. Instead of a traditional cake, guests indulged in delicious ice cream sandwiches, and a temporary tattoo station let friends and family decorate themselves with custom wedding-themed tattoos. By keeping their guest count intimate, they ensured every moment was shared with the people who mattered most, many of whom had traveled from across the country to celebrate with them.
From their Central Park engagement to their lakeside wedding, every chapter of Heidi & Chris’ love story was beautifully intentional. My goal is always to document the emotions, the details, and the atmosphere in a way that transports you back to the moment. Their wedding was a perfect example of how meaningful details and a well-thought-out celebration can turn a wedding into an unforgettable experience.
